Jonathan D. Benge

Hey, I’m Jonathan! I’m a Senior Wealth Advisor and co-founder of Preferred Resource Group (PRG), which I helped launch in 1999 in Fargo, North Dakota. With 25+ years of experience, I love educating clients and helping them feel confident about their financial future. There’s nothing better than giving families confidence as they navigate retirement and financial planning.

Fun fact: I briefly walked on to NDSU’s football team in 1991! 🏈 (Let’s just say moving from lineman to wide receiver was… an experience!). I’ve been a die-hard Bison fan ever since, riding the highs and lows of every game. 🤘

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me coaching, mentoring, or just having fun teaching! I’ve spent years involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and youth sports, and I’m a proud Eagle Scout—once a Scout, always a Scout!  These adventures have taught me leadership, perseverance, and a love for the great outdoors (and maybe a few fire-starting tricks). 

I’m happiest at the lake, whether swimming, boating, or just soaking up the outdoors.  My go-to movies? Indiana Jones, The Italian Job, and anything with action!  And when it comes to music, I’m all about classic country & ‘80s rock—Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, and of course, Van Halen. 🎸

As for food, nothing beats my mom’s angel food cake —though I have to say, gnocchi in Rome was a game-changer. ("Small, yummy, cheesy pillows"—need I say more? 😆).
